Neither its content nor results from a linked third-party tool may be used for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another FCRA-regulated decision. A check required for a regulated purpose must use the legally authorized Kentucky State Police (KSP) fingerprint process or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.
Accuracy of Information
Public offices can revise their addresses, hours, telephone numbers, fees, forms, and request procedures with little notice. Court and agency databases also change as new events are reported. Although Shelby County Criminal History is reviewed for accuracy, no detail is guaranteed to be complete or current at a particular moment. Confirm instructions and charges with the responsible office before visiting a counter, mailing a form, or paying a fee.
An Arrest Is Not a Conviction
A booking or arrest does not establish guilt. Prosecutors may decline or amend a charge, a court may dismiss it, and a case may end in acquittal. Kentucky records can also change after correction or expungement under KRS Chapter 431. Some qualifying nontraffic dismissals with prejudice and acquittals are automatically expunged under current law, while other relief requires a court process. An old copy may therefore conflict with a person's present legal status. Verify the disposition with the Shelby Circuit Court Clerk, the agency that made the record, the Kentucky Court of Justice Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), or KSP as appropriate.
A record is a starting point, not a verdict. Only its official custodian can confirm the current contents and whether Kentucky law permits release.
